I fell in love with The Goo Goo Dolls when I stumb

I fell in love with The Goo Goo Dolls when I stumbled upon their 1995 album, A Boy Named Goo.

The first album track, "Long Way Down", was played on repeat as I couldn't get enough of the heavy, loud guitar solo. I'm the type of listener that hears the guitar and drums first way before the lyrics. Am I strange that way? Anyone else like that?

I'll be playing that song on repeat again today in preparation for tonight's GGD show at Asheville's Rabbit Rabbit.

This will be my first time seeing a show at this venue so I'm excited to check it out and with the openers, Fitz and the Tantrums, it'll sure be a special time. 🤘

This group has accomplished so much in a short 2.5 years. I’m excited for the future of these strong and powerful women. 🤘

Dad would have been 72 today. Nothing prepares y

Dad would have been 72 today.

Nothing prepares you for the loss of a parent and what life looks like after.

It’s been a long healing journey in a short 2.5 years.

Processing grief looks different for everyone; I’ve met with mediums, tried meditation, gone to grief counseling, shit, I’ve even tried nature bathing (didn’t help but it was calming af).

Even this whole life on road phase I’m currently on was another effort in this healing process.

So on days such as this one, I’ve learned that it’s alright to be sad but I must honor him in a way he would appreciate. Last year was a dinner of oysters and champagne and this year is a Michelle Branch concert🤘

So cheers to Dad aka Dr. Tom, love you, and I’ll continue to honor, celebrate, and live life as you did.

I’ve returned from my week out on the West Coast

I’ve returned from my week out on the West Coast.

While I’m only sharing a few photos in this post, it doesn’t even begin to encompass everything @itspauleulette and I accomplished within a short amount of time.

So I’ll provide y’all a quick rundown:
- landed
- tequila shots
- bought @blackpinkofficial tickets for that night
- more tequila
- hungover pool hangs
- finished reading a book
- visited the Santa Monica pier
- dinner with @susannahjagstadt
- contemplated getting tattoos
- drove to Joshua Tree
- climbed rocks
- watched sunrises and sunsets
- conducted a Pisces Blue Moon Ritual aka burned palo santo, drank wine and made promises to ourselves
- drove to Palm Springs
- drove to Bombay Beach
- took A LOT of pictures
- drove to Topanga and climbed a mountain
- ate pizza and watched Murder She Wrote
- laughed and cried
- listened to Jimmy Buffett

This holiday was started by Gary Freiberg as a way to honor the art behind the music, collecting, and recording.

I love finding record shops during my travels as a way to commemorate my trip. My favorite so far was finding Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s 1960 self titled record at Nashville’s @vinyltapnashville.

Share some of your favorite vinyl shops so I know where to go on my next trip. 🎧

July was a month filled with canoeing, river floating, beach sitting, hiking, and any other mountain/beach activity that required nature.

My time with split between Asheville/Waynesville and Edisto Beach so not a bad way to officially kick off my nomadic life.

I did manage to squeeze in some good eats too from @ashevilleproper. I highly recommend the s’mores…because why not when you’re at a nice restaurant.

Stay tuned to see where I head next…a passport will be required for this one. ✈️

This day is to encourage people to appreciate the art of listening. While this day focuses on listening to the sounds of nature, I’ll be spending it listening to some of my favorite musicians.
