Episode 17, Leah Blevins

“With the bad, you got to have the good.
You can’t have one without the other.”

I had the privilege of first seeing Leah Blevins at a Song Suffragettes showcase in January 2020. There I heard her single, “First Time Feeling”, and I was an instant fan. Her debut album, also called, First Time Feeling, was released last month, and American Songwriter stated, “With a nimble, gorgeous voice, she delivers soaring melodies over well-crafted arrangements, almost akin to Dolly Parton reborn.”

It is a collection of songs that intertwines the themes of vulnerability, resilience, and triumph. Leah states during our conversation, “With the bad, you got to have the good. You can’t have one without the other. That’s the blessing in disguise.” The hope is that sharing her experiences through her songs will offer some camaraderie as we navigate life’s experiences.

Leah will be playing a SOLD OUT show alongside Marcus King Band at Charleston Music Hall on Monday and Tuesday, September 27th and 28th.
