A quote from a singer\/songwriter that puts heart and art into everything she touches. I’ll be honest, this may have been one of my biggest fangirl moments to date. To have the opportunity to discuss music with Elizabeth Cook was truly an honor. This is a human that has played the Grand Ole Opry over 400 times, provides her voice on the Cartoon Network show, Squidbillies<\/a>, and hosts a successful SiriusXM radio show<\/a> and fishing TV show<\/a> on Circle Network. Not to mention, she and Sturgill Simpson<\/a> were just in Charleston filming for said fishing show (and made a stop at Hannnibal’s Kitchen<\/a> for some delicious food). <\/p>\n\n\n\n While she may have her hands busy juggling multiple projects, she always comes back to the music. Her songs intertwine her past experiences from the many lives she’s lived on this earth. Cook has made it a point to not let the music industry business influence her work. She stays true to the stories she wants to tell even if they defect her from the legendary Music Row. One particular piece of work is her 2007 album, Balls<\/em>, which will be reissued next year on vinyl to commemorate this pivotal piece of her discography. Not only is she making moves to her own beat, she’s also supporting other original artists; two of her current favorites are, Kacey Musgraves<\/a> and James McMurtry<\/a>. Their latest releases have been some of her recent to-go albums, “star-crossed<\/a>” and “The Horses and the Hounds”<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Elizabeth and her band, Gravy, will be playing the Holy Smokes BBQ Festival<\/a> on Saturday, November 13th. The event is 11:00 am – 4:00 pm so plenty of time to partake in the meats, drinks, and music.
