A new episode of the Disco Teepee Radio show airs this Saturday, November 16th at 11am - 12pm ET.

I’m sharing an interview I had with the band, BERTHA, the world’s first Grateful Drag band. Celebrating the femme and queer side of the Deadhead scene, they’re a band for all.

They recently played the Charleston Pour House and it was phenomenal show, slide for videos. :)  In our discussion, Jacob and Melody share stories of their entry into the Deadhead scene, their hopes for the future of Bertha, and what it was like working with Elle King.

My first adventure with these incredible friends was Montana 2020. Since then, our group has grown from seven to nine, celebrating life’s milestones and supporting each other through every challenge.

Our latest journey took us to Portugal for the beautiful wedding of Carter and Taylor. If you get the chance, visit this stunning country—the food, architecture, people, and landscapes are a feast for the senses. While these photos can’t fully capture the experience, they’re a wonderful snapshot.

“Punk for a Day Day” celebrates the bold, rebellious spirit of punk culture. It’s all about freedom, creativity, and challenging societal norms, inviting people to embrace unique self-expression.

In honor of this holiday, I teamed up with my friend and fellow music enthusiast, Jim Voigt (aka The Critic), to create a playlist that pays tribute to punk music. The playlist spans artists like the Ramones, Black Flag, and The Clash.

We’re sharing another great throwback this Thursday with an interview with the talented, Kanika Moore.

It was such an honor to have the opportunity to chat with her about music, life, and Doom Flamingo. Doom’s latest EP, Measurements, was released on September 6th and it’s been on repeat for me…especially the song, “Blind Spots”.

This quote from Kanika says it all: “I knew this was going to be a really big project and it was going to take off.” She was right. With Measurements, Doom continues to evolve their sound and therefore stand out as musical innovators; being flamingos within a flock of pigeons, if you will. 🦩

I’ve returned from my burnout break 😊   I

I’ve returned from my burnout break 😊   I took a much needed intermission from posting as well as the radio show in June through August. For a while there, my burnout almost had me convinced that ending DT all together may suit me better. But here’s the funny thing about burnout, it’ll lose momentum if you stop feeding it.  So over the past three months, I focused my energy on other things such as, learning how to “manage” our family’s farm (just trees, no cute animals), the deconstruction of my childhood home, spent time in Edisto, finished three books, got my third tattoo, and went on an amazing trip to Miami and Key West.   It was quite the range of endeavors that helped my brain to refocus and recover my creative spirit. I’m no expert in burnout recovery but if I’ve learned anything from my “time off” it’s that you cannot be the best creative if you’re forcing it. People can tell and you’re miserable by putting out shitty work. So if you’re feeling uninspired just take the damn break.
